Two persons were feared drowned off the coast of Madh Island, Malad on Sunday evening. The incident occurred at 7pm and as per local police, the search operation was on until 9 pm, without any success in tracing the duo's bodies.

The incident is reported to have occurred at Silver Sand beach after the dangerous tide of 4.65 metres receded. The tide had set in at around 11:52 am. "The police and fire brigade are yet to find the bodies. Nothing can be said as of now," an official attached to Malwani Police station said, wishing anonymity.

According to unconfirmed reports, the incident occurred when a group of six persons was strolling at the spot in the evening. "The boys had entered the sea area and were having fun when the two were swept away," a local said. The fire brigade had put to use one fire engine during the rescue work.
