Two-and-half-year old girl raped in Mumbra

A two-and-half-year old girl from Mumbra area was raped by 36-year-old Abdul Khalid Mohammed Kaiser, a relative hailing from Uttar pradesh.

On Sunday evening at around 9pm, the infant's mother wanted to go out for Eid shopping when the accused volunteered to look after the child and asked the parents to leave their daughter at home under his care.

The parents agreed and left their daughter with the accused while they, along with their 5-years-old son, went to the market to shop. On returning around 10.15pm, they saw their daughter lying unconscious on the bed in a pool of blood. The parents, on finding that the accused was absconding, rushed the girl to a hospital.

When the accused returned home later in the night, the locals started thrashing him but he denied the charges. He was then handed over to the Mumbra police station. During investigation the accused accepted to committing crime and was booked under section 376 (punishment for rape) and several sections of The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act 2012.
