What started out as a probable case of abduction turned out to be a poor father struggling to control his ailing kid. Mumbai guy Faisal Shaikh had probably not thought that he is on for a roller coaster ride while boarding the local from Malad to Mumbai Central. But being a good samaritan, Shaikh had a bumpy ride trying to ensure that a crying kid actually belonged to his father and wasn't abducted

A man was suspected of kidnapping a child while on the train to Mumbai Central station on Sunday afternoon. Karan Saroj, 30, was travelling on the train from Malad to Mumbai Central with a crying child in his arms. As the child, two-year-old Palak, was crying incessantly, passengers on the train suspected that the man had kidnapped her.

Seeing the child in distress, the passengers of the train created a hue and cry. Saroj had hospital papers in his hand which seemed to show that he was her father. As the passengers remained suspicious, fellow traveller Faisal Shaikh, took the onus of verifying the man's claim and accompanied them to Kasturba hospital in Chinchpokli. Here, they were told that the child had swollen lungs.

Since the hospital did not have the necessary equipment to treat her, the child was referred to Nair hospital. The child was admitted here. Meanwhile, Palak's aunt and uncle arrived at the hospital to back Saroj's claim that he was her father. Palak is currently undergoing treatment at the hospital.

While the matter was solved amicably, one hopes that all citizens are as alert as Shaikh to ensure our cities are more safe
