Even after being absconding for more than a month, accused Nafees alias Nilesh who used to lay a trap for the girls of Kalina campus of the Mumbai University after accepting money by giving them hoax assurances of pass marks is still out of reach of the BKC police. Nafees who used to pose himself as a faculty member of the Institute of Distance and Open Learning (IDOL) department of the university, allegedly duped many victims by accepting money and he is also alleged to have asked for physical favours for the same.

According to the BKC police Nafees who was first suspected to have been hiding within the city limits, was first tried to be tracked down on the basis of his Call Record Details (CDR) but later the efforts of the cops did not turned out positive. Later a police team was also sent to Rajasthan on basis of the inputs from credible sources but the search did no yield anything. The police believes that the inputs received to them can make Nafees fall into their trap anytime but as of now, the search for him is under progress.

As per the FIR registered by two victims at BKC police station Nafees is alleged to have approached the victims coming from poor economic background and claiming to be a professor helping them to get their exams cleared, he used to give fake promises to get them passing marks in return of hefty charges and sometimes sex in return. The university which is recently in bad phase of light amidst ongoing answer sheet scam operating within it's campus has not yet commented on the incident but have alerted all the students to stay away from such touts claiming to help them passed in examinations. The police is also suspecting active involvement of other officials of the varsity to have allegedly help Nafees to carry out his activities of taking answer sheets from the campus and getting them filled up by the victims at his Vakola residence.

"The case is being investigated and the hunt for the absconding accused is still on. Statements of concerned people in the case is being recorded and all possible leads are being probed as of now." said a police officer
