Member of parliament from Mumbai North constituency, Gopal Shetty has approached governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao, seeking action against Lokayukta justice (retired) ML Tahaliyani, who has ordered him to return a plot to Mhada.

In his letter to the governor on Friday, Shetty said that the Lokayukta has not followed the procedure and passed the order without hearing his side in a complaint filed by "political rivals".

The Lokayukta had reportedly relied on a stop-work notice issued by the BMC. The notice stated that development work on the Charkop plot was being carried out without permission.

However, Shetty claimed that the stop-work notice was technically illegal. "I had been working on this project for three years. All the necessary permissions from authorities were obtained."

Shetty has asked the governor to remove the Lokayukta, if the authority does not apologise to him.

Shetty told dna, "They must apologise for causing damage to my reputation and also for the mental agony. If not, he must be sacked."

The governor has not responded to Shetty's letter yet. The MP, however, said that he would pursue the matter till its logical end as his reputation and hard work of 25 years were at stake.
