A dead body was found floating in the quarry water located at Janki Pada in Nallasopra East on 21st, August 2017. The body had three tattoos etched on it and had a slit throat. These were the only identification marks initially available, said the cops.

The two tattoos were names of people and the third tattoo was that of a religious deity. Pictures of these were put up across the area last week by the cops. The first clue that police got was that victim was a resident of a suburb, Bhayandar, in Mumbai region.

On further investigations and the clues based on the tattoos etched, the deceased was identified as Ramcharan Dwivedi, 22. The other tattoo, is his mother's name engraved who has been identified as Rajni Ramdas Dwivedi. And that's when the story turned even more gory.

Rajni Ramdas Dwivedi, a 42-year-old lady was interrogated by the cops, on why she didn't file a missing complaint for her son. Later, she admitted committing the crime on further questioning by the police. She agreed to have her son killed by giving a supari of Rs. 50,000 to a tempo owner, Yadav. Yadav had to repay a loan taken to buy a tempo, so he readily agreed for the deal.

Rajni claimed that she was fed up being sexually assaulted by her son who was also a drug addict. She also confessed that her elder son, Sitaram, was also involved in the crime.

The police has arrested the three people accused, on Rajni Dwivedi's statement. A case of murder and causing any evidence of the commission of that offence to disappear has been registered. The three accused are remanded under police custody till September 23.
