Three barge into Bhandup house, bash up owner, loot Rs 86,000

The Bhandup police have registered a case of robbery and assault against three unidentified persons after they allegedly barged into the room of a 26-year-old Bhandup resident, assaulted him and decamped with Rs86,000 on Monday evening.

According to the police, the complainant in the case, Mahesh Nevese, a government employee, told the police that on Monday evening when he was praying on the mazzanine floor of his residence in Sant Dyananeshwar Nagar, three people barged into his room. "The trio threatened Nevese with a knife and assaulted him till he became unconscious," said Pratap Chavan, senior police inspector of Bhandup police station. "The complainant told us that when he gained consiciousness he went to the hospital for treatment and it was then he realised that the money was stolen," Chavan added.

The complainant also told the police that when the incident happened there was no one at home. "We are investigating whether there was any specific reason, apart from robbery, to assault the complainant," said Chavan.
Nevese also told the police that on the day of the incident he had withdrawn Rs60,000 from the bank and had kept another Rs23,000 at his home. "We are verifying the claims made by the complainant as well and are also looking for eyewitnesses of the incident," said Chavan.
