Investigations into the case of the leaked TYBcom Marketing and Human Resource question paper have revealed that the two students, who had been arrested, had passed on the paper to 24 others through WhatsApp messenger service. The police have seized the mobile phones of all these 24 students, sources said.

The police have so far arrested Rajendra Borhade, 43, resident of Thane (W), Vishal More, 21, resident of Ram Baug in Kalyan (W), Pratik Mehta, 21, resident of Jain Society in Kalyan (W) and Rajkumar Mishra.

While Borhade worked as a clerk in KM Agarwal College in Kalyan, Mishra was as an IT coordinator there.

"Investigations have revealed that More and Mehta circulated the paper through WhatsApp to 24 others. We have seized the mobile phones of all the 24. We suspect these two to have made a lot of money by circulating the question paper," said a crime branch officer.

Borhade, More and Mehta were produced in the court on Friday and were remanded in police custody for four more days. The police had earlier recovered Rs 9,000 and Rs 4,000 from residences of Borhade and More, respectively. They also seized photocopies of the leaked paper.

On Tuesday, the police recorded the statement of Agarwal College principal Anita Manna and 15 students. Police also alleged that the college had not followed the Standard Operation Procedure properly.

According to the police, the question paper was sent through the Internet to the centre concerned in an encrypted format two days prior to the exam. In order to decrypt the question papers, IT coordinators of the centres were sent passwords on their mobile phones. They then decode the question paper and it is distributed among students in the exams centres. Mishra had given an additional print of the paper to Borhade for money and the latter distributed it among students.
