It is a moment of pride and inspiration for residents of Balkum, Thane as the feat they created on Republic day has entered Limca Book of Records. On January 26, they had created a tri-colour wave using fans which has finally entered the Limca Book of Records.

On Wednesday, Amit Patil of Pop Boyz Crew, a dance group from Balkum, received an envelope from Limca Book of Records (LBR). "After follow ups with LBR for the past nine months, they finally acknowledged our record," said Amit Patil, organiser of the event and one of the founding members of Pop Boyz. "We have tears in our eyes and have no words to express our joy," he said.

The LBR has acknowledged the record as the longest moving wave with tri-color hand fans by 306 participants for 5.15 minutes. It will be published in LBR's 2017 edition.

The record has given the villagers of Balkum confidence and inspiration like never before. "The participants are from our village. They are poor and do odd jobs to make ends meet. This acknowledgement has proved that even a villager can create a record. We feel proud to have done something for our country," he said.

Founded in 2009, with five members Pop Boyz Crew, they work towards advocating social causes through dance and entertainment. "Through our dance, we create awareness on various issues like saving the girl child, education, save water, etc. Whatever proceeds we earn goes towards these causes," he added.

Till date the group boasts that they have won 251 trophies and have utilized the prize money for helping society.

Enthused by this recognition, the group now wants to create more such records. "We have planned another feat for the next republic day. And hopefully that too will be another record from the villagers of Balkum," he said.
