The Kapurbawadi police registered a case against the husband and brother-in-law of Thane Mayor for allegedly assaulting a youth and his family members. The tiff which started due to rash bike driving ended with three persons being severely injured.

According to police, Ankush Chandwade,29, a resident of Manpada in Thane was on his way home to meet his friend on Tuesday night when he indulged into a war of words with one of the Shiv Sena party worker. Chandwade in his complaint has stated that Rajendra Shinde, husband of Thane Mayor Meenakshi Shinde and Vijay Shinde, brother-in-law of the Thane Mayor along with his supporters allegedly assaulted him with iron rods, cricket stumps, bat, and bamboos.

"The complainant was riding his bike rashly when one of the accused confronted him which led to a verbal fight and later turned into a physical attack." said a senior Kapurbawadi police officer.

"We have taken one person into the custody and we are yet to make the arrests in the case. The complainant and his family members are being admitted in the hospital for treatment.", said a Kapurbawadi police officer.

"We have registered a case of rioting and assault on seven persons and we are investigating further", said the officer.
