An 18-year-old artist from Worli lost his life on Friday as he rushed to work. The youngster who usually takes his bike to work preferred taking the train to reach early. Mayuresh Haldankar, a resident of Worli BDD Chawl, worked at Fort area for a custom clearance company.

Due to some urgent work, Haldankar rushed and got stuck in the crowd on the Elphinstone FOB. He wanted to deposit a cheque as the next three days were a bank holiday. The teenager worked during the day and studied at night in a local hostel. The friends and family members gathered in large numbers and slammed the railways for the incident.

Haldankar was an artist who sculpted and designed idols of deities.

Vinayak Rahat, a family friend said, "The entire family is in shock, this tragedy has shook the residents of BDD chawl in Worli. The teenager took his two-wheeler to work in Fort but he received a call from his office to urgently rush at Sandhurst road to collect a document and cheques. With the next three days being bank holidays, he was asked to deposit."
