Police sub-inspector (PSI) Sachin Hindurao Suryavanshi, who was suspended from the department in May this year following a heated argument with member of legislative assembly Kshitij Thakur, has been reinstated in service. An order in this regard was recently issued by the Mumbai police department.

According to the police, between 12pm and 1.20pm on March 18, Suryavanshi was on traffic duty at Bandra Worli Sea Link. He had fined Thakur for over speeding and this led to a heated exchange of words between Thakur, his men and Suryavanshi. Suryavanshi was then called to Vidhan Bhawan where he was allegedly bashed up by a few politicians.

A complaint was then registered in this regard with the Marine Drive police station and the case was investigated by the city crime branch. The crime branch had later arrested Thakur and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) leader Ram Kadam in a case of assault on Suryavanshi.

“Preliminary inquiry suggested that arrogant language was used by Suryavanshi while talking to Thakur and such behaviour does not suit a police officer.

Suryanvanshi was suspended pending inquiry and the said suspension order was accepted by Suryanvanshi on April 5. He has now been reinstated into the service,” said a police officer.
