An 18-year-old BMS student studying in a Bandra college was allegedly kidnapped by three friends of the girl he liked and was assaulted in a vehicle on November 15. He was also threatened that there would be dire consequences if he reported the incident to his parents or the police. The trio were arrested by Amboli police on Monday.

Amboli police named the three arrested youth as Harris Khan, 19, Adam Ali Salot, 21, and Riyaz Ansari, 20. They were friends with a girl whom the victim was trying to woo for a long time. On November 14, the girl allegedly complained to Khan, who was her schoolmate, that the victim had been troubling her. Khan, who had an issue with the victim being friendly with the girl, called the victim on his mobile phone and asked him to meet him in Bandra to discuss the matter. But the victim, who resides in Andheri (west), told Khan to meet him outside Citi Mall, also located there. "At 8:30 pm Khan, accompanied by Salot and Ansari, came in a taxi outside the Citi Mall to meet the victim, where Khan had an argument with the victim. Then they pushed the victim in the car and started assaulting him," said an officer from the Amboli police station.

Later, the victim told the police that he was taken to Khiranagar in Santacruz, where he was shifted into a private vehicle, and assaulted until the vehicle reached Carter Road in Bandra (West). The trio then left the victim at Carter Road. They warned him to stay away from the girl and not to tell anyone about the assault.

The incident came to light when the accused trio came to college and showed the video that they had recorded while assaulting the victim. "The victim's father came to know about the video and he approached us with a complaint. On the basis of that, we have registered a case and arrested three accused," said senior police inspector Ramesh Khadtare from Amboli police station. He added, "In his statement, Khan has said that his father is a retired IAS officer. We are verifying the claims. All the three accused come from a decent background and live in Bandra."

The Amboli police have booked Khan, Silot and Ansari for kidnapping, assault, threatening and for common intention under relevant sections of the Indian Penal code.
