Stepfather held for raping daughter, sodomising son

In a shocking incident, a 49-year-old man was arrested by the Nalasopara police for allegedly raping his 11-year-old stepdaughter and sodomising his 12-year-old stepson over the past two years.

Zakir Mehfoos Alam, 49, a resident of Samel Pada in Nalasopara (W) and an employee in a private firm, allegedly raped his stepdaughter, a class 6 student, and indulged in anal sex with his stepson, a class VII student.

The children’s mother, who is the complainant, stated that the chidlren are from a previous marriage. She married Alam two years ago.

“The woman alleged that since then, her husband raped her kids whenever she went out. She added that she found out about this on Saturday evening, when, after a minor dispute, the two kids told her everything,” said Sunil Lokhande, investigation officer, Nalasopara police station.

Lokhande added, “Alam allegedly threatened to kill their mother if they spoke about it to anyone.”

Alam was arrested on Friday and booked under relevant sections of the IPC. He has been remanded in police custody till July 4. “We will press additional charges against him under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act,” said Lokhande.
