Despite one of their own men severely injured in a clash between Shiv Sena and MNS workers in Trombay, the Mumbai police have failed to make any further arrest in the case.

Meanwhile, Kamini Shewale, who is shown as one of the 18 accused in the case, got interim relief from the court on Friday. The Trombay police have formed a Special Investigative Team (SIT) to investigate the case and have so far arrested two persons in the case.

In the wee hours of April 24, the police had received information that a Scorpio car with registration number MH 41/c/8333 having sticker of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) was distributing money in Maharashtra Nagar in Trombay. Police had sent a team to verify the information and did a thorough check however they couldn't find anything suspicious in the car.

By then a crowd of Sena workers assembled, which according to the police, was led by Kamini Shewale, wife of Rahul Shewale, Shiv Sena candidate from Mumbai's South-Central constituency.

Fearing things would go out of hand, the officer asked constable Vikas Thorbole to sit in the car and escort it to the police station, but as soon as he got into the vehicle the crowd started pelting stones on the car.

Thorbole was severely injured in the stone pelting and had to be rushed to Joy hospital where he is currently kept in the ICU under observations. The police on Thursday arrested two people – Rohidas Therange (39) and Mohammed Sizaudin Mohammed (43) – in connection with the case. However, Kamini and 16 others are still at large.

According to Vijay Jadhav, senior police inspector of Trombay, said, "We have formed a special investigation team to investigate the case, and we are looking out for her."

"We had kept a watch at the voting booth, but she didn't come to vote as well. She is currently on the run," he added.

Kadam informed that Trombay police received message that Kamini was granted interim relief from the court.

Meanwhile, Shiv Sena workers have registered a case of outraging modesty of women against seven party workers of MNS. According to police, these people where present in the Scorpio car that was pelted with stones and had clash with Shiv Sena workers. The FIR was registered against Rajesh Ukrande, Veena Ukrande, Ravi Gawas, Rajaram Mangal and three more women.
