The general body meetings of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation are likely to get recorded and aired on television like the way the Parliament proceedings are relayed. A proposal to this effect was cleared at the law committee meeting recently and would be presented in the next general body meeting.
A notice of motion on this was moved by Congress leader Rajhans Singh in 2008. However, it was stuck because of administrative delays. "For the last three months, there had been several rounds of discussions on this. I have been pushing the issue for the last two months and today, as a presiding officer of the committee, have cleared the proposal," said law committee chairman Gyanmurti Sharma.
Once the proposal is presented in the next general body meeting, Doordarshan news is likely to broadcast the proceedings of the house, said sources.
"I have asked this to be implemented to immediate effect. So, it should start in the next two or three months," said Sharma, a senior Bharatiya Janata Party corporator.
