The next time you dial the civic authorities of B-ward do not be surprised if you hear a catchy caller tune. The B-ward office, which covers areas like Masjid Bunder, Pydhonie, and Dongri, has come up with an innovative way to promote awareness about cleanliness.

The B-ward Assistant Municipal Commissioner plans to release a caller tune in a few months time. "When a citizen calls, they can hear the jingle which will be based on nursery rhymes. The lyrics will convey the 'Swachh Mumbai' and 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' message. This is an innovative concept for people to remember the message that we are aiming to spread through the caller tune. This will help us spread the message but with a twist," said Assistant Municipal Commissioner, Udaykumar Shirurkar.

Shirurkar added that the lyrics will be changed according to the social message they want to highlight. He said, "The waste segregation, efforts of workers cleaning the streets will be highlighted. We will also make videos and circulate them to let residents know about the work being done."

The civic body plans to launch the pilot campaign in B-ward initially. "We are presently working on the initiative. It will be out in a few weeks," added Shirurkar.

Earlier, authorities had also released five songs which spread the message about cleanliness drives and how to segregate different kinds of waste. The songs were distributed to Ganpati pandals across the city on CDs and pen drives to play during the festival of Ganesh Chaturthi.
