Six kidnap Thane businessman, loot him at gun point

A Thane-based businessman doing online trade was allegedly kidnapped by six persons and was looted at gun point. Keeping the victim in captivity the kidnappers demanded Rs10 crore from him. He was assaulted and threatened to be killed if he did not pay them.

The 22-year-old Snapdeal dealer is a resident of Waghbil in Ghodbunder. He was allegedly pushed into a Vento car (MH 04 FA 5333) at Mankoli Naka in Bhiwandi by six persons. One of the accused named Satish pulled out a gun and looted him of cash, gold, watch and his phones worth Rs3,33,500. He was held in captivity at a two-storey building at Khanivali in Bhiwandi.

"The accused later demanded Rs10 crore and assaulted the complainant. Later, he was let off and he approached us and filed a formal complaint," said an officer from Shanti Nagar police station. "The accused was beaten up brutally by the kidnappers and they kept on demanding money from him. We are investigating if the businessman had personal enmity with the accused," said the officer.

"We have registered a case under section 394 (voluntarily causing hurt in committing robbery), 364 (A) (kidnapping for ransom, etc), 364 (kidnapping or abducting in order to murder), 387 (putting person in fear of death or of grievous hurt in order to commit extortion) and 34 (common intent) of the Indian Penal Code and under relevant sections of the Arms Act," said VM Dalvi, investigation officer from crime branch.
