A video has gone viral showing a bunch of Shiv Sena workers in Ulhasnagar thrashing a 36-year-old man, who allegedly molested minor girls outside a school. This comes at a time when the nation is angered over the rape of an eight-year-old girl in Kathua. The accused, identified as Mohan Ratan Kharate, has been arrested by the Vitthalwadi Police.

According to the police, the incident took place on Friday afternoon, when Kharate groped an 11-year-old girl, who was going to school. The police said the accused touched her inappropriately and threatened her. Horrified by the act, the victim went home and narrated the incident to her mother and aunt, who went around the school inquiring about the accused.

A few Shiv Sena workers, upon finding out about this, nabbed Kharate and started bashing him brutally. The workers made a video of the same and posted it on social media sites and forwarded to WhatsApp groups. The workers then handed over the accused to Vitthalwadi police. "We have arrested the accused after registering the case and our probe is on," said SJ Shirsath, senior police inspector, Vitthalwadi Police Station.

Meanwhile, in another case of molestation in Mumbai, the Nagpada Police has arrested a 25-year-old man for allegedly molesting a two-year-old girl by kissing her on Saturday evening. A Nagpada police officer said the accused is a druggie and harasses people in the area. On Saturday, when the child was sitting at the veranda, she was bitten by the accused on her cheeks. The mother of the victim then approached police and lodged a complaint.

"Kharate is unmarried and lives in the nearby area. He always roams in the area and harasses school going girls. Earlier, too, he had done a similar thing but no case was registered as the children would fear to tell it to anyone(sic)," said a police officer.

Kharate has been booked under relevant sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO Act) 2012.
