Shiv Sena Corporator Vishakha Raut will move a notice of motion on March 3 demanding that there should be condition in service regulations of IAS officers to vacate/return the residences provided by Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) after the officers get transferred from BMC. The present mayor of Mumbai, Vishwanath Mahadeshwar, will have to shift in coming months as the Shivaji Park bunglow he resides now is to be turned into Bal Thackarey memorial.

The demand has come on the background of Shiv Sena’s demand to vacate the Malabar Hill bunglow owned by BMC itself which is occupied by former Additional Municipal Commissioner, Pallavi Darade and her husband Pravin Darade who is Additional Municipal Commissioner.

“I have put the notice of motion so that in future such issue does not come up as if the service rules of IAS officers say to vacate the residence, they will have to abide the rules”, Raut told DNA.

Pallavi Darade was transferred from BMC last year and now is holding the post of Commissioner of Food and Drug Administration, the department which is under state government. But, as per rules, Pallavi has still not vacated the sea-facing heritage era bunglow which the Shivsena is demanding for the Mayor.
