A day after the police booked Shiv Sena MLA Vinod Ghosalkar for obscene remarks and threats against party’s corporator Sheetal Mhatre, he has refuted the allegations. He said he’s ready to face an inquiry.
“The allegations against me are imaginary and baseless. It is a political conspiracy,” said Ghosalkar, who is also the Shiv Sena’s local unit leader.
“The party knows that I have done nothing wrong and I’m sure I’ll not be asked to resign from any post.”
The Dahisar police filed an FIR on Friday mentioning sections 501 (printing matter that is defamatory), 509 (using words, gestures to insult the modesty of a woman), and 506 (criminal intimidation) on a complaint by Mhatre. These offences if proved can be punished with imprisonment that could extend up to seven years and fine, or both.
Mhatre accused Ghosalkar of instigating party workers to scribble her mobile phone number on the walls of public toilets in Dahisar and that she had been getting obscene calls.
The corporator was hospitalised after complaining of high blood pressure.
