Demanding that the state government grant loan waivers and interest free loans to farmers in Maharashtra, a delegation of Shiv Sena ministers met Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis late on Wednesday.

Describing the BJP as a "dangerous, unfaithful, treacherous and back-stabbing" ally, senior Shiv Sena leader and environment minister Ramdas Kadam has also demanded that the party quit the Fadnavis government. "All our ministers feel we must throw our resignations in their (BJP's) face," said Kadam, who went to Fadnavis' official residence of Varsha on Malabar Hill with cabinet colleagues Eknath Shinde, Diwakar Raote and Deepak Kesarkar.

Referring to the BJP's promise for waiving off the debt of farmers in Uttar Pradesh once elected to power, the Shiv Sena has demanded that the party write off all agri loans in Maharashtra.

"If loans can be waived off in Uttar Pradesh, why not in Maharashtra where they are in power? The same rule that is being applied to Uttar Pradesh's farmers must be applied here," said Kadam.

The decision of Shiv Sena ministers to meet Fadnavis late on Wednesday had triggered off immense speculation about if the relations between the estranged allies were at tipping point. The Shiv Sena and BJP have been bickering for control of the BMC, which is the richest civic body in India.
