School bus runs over 9-year-old Jogeshwari boy's foot, driver held

A 9-year-old boy sustained injuries after a school bus hit him in Anand Nagar, opposite Mega Mall in Oshiwara. The driver of the bus, Mohammed Ganni, 30, has been arrested.

The incident happened on Thursday at around 12:30pm when the boy, Harsh Durga, who lives in a chawl in Anand Nagar at Jogeshwari, was trying to cross the road. The bus allegedly ran over the boy's foot. The bus belonged to St Mary's School in four bungalows, Andheri and was on its way to drop off children. The police have seized the bus.

Soon after the accident, the bus driver, along with passersby rushed the boy to a nearby hospital. "The boy has suffered a fracture in his right foot and is recuperating at Sri Sai Hospital in Goregaon West," said Subhash Vele, senior PI at Oshiwara police station.

The boy is a standard 3 student at Sunflower School in Jogeshwari. "There have not been any other injuries reported. The driver lives in a chawl at Juhu galli, Andheri (W)," added Vele.

Ganni was arrested under IPC Sections 279 (rash driving) and 378 (Causing grievous hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others).
