Actor Saif Ali Khan and Bilal Amrohi appeared before the magistrate court in connection with the alleged 2012 assault case. This, a month after the prosecution had pleaded with the court to issue warrant against the two.
The third accused, Shakeel Ladak, was also present in the court.

The court adjourned the matter to Sept 19, on which date it is likely to decide the date on which the trial would commence.

Last month, public prosecutor Wajid Shaikh filed an application in the court pleading that warrants be issued against Khan and Amrohi for failing to appear before it. The application said: "Rich people feel shy and lowered in appearing before the court, and so they mostly remain absent, and hence warrant may be issued."

The court however asked the defence advocates to ask their clients to be present before it on Sept 10, failing which warrants would be issued against the two.

Shaikh, who spoke to dna, said: "Today all the three accused were present in the court, which said on Sept 19 it might fix the date on which the trial would begin."

The accused, meanwhile, requested the court to provide them a copy of the CCTV footage inside Wasabi Restaurant in Taj Hotel where Saif allegedly assaulted Iqbal Mir Sharma and his father-in-law. The court informed them that it would most likely provide it on Sept 19.

According to the prosecution, the actor and his two friends were arrested following a complaint filed by businessman Iqbal Mir Sharma after an alleged fight at Wasabi Restaurant on Feb 22, 2012. They were later released on bail. Saif was accompanied by Karishma Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, Maliaka Arora Khan, Amrita Arora and a few more male friends. Police claimed Saif assaulted the complainant after he had protested the loud chatter at the table occupied by Saif and friends.
