A pre-monsoon survey conducted by the Mumbai Buildings Repairs and Reconstruction Board (MBR&R Board) of the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) in 2017 found nine cessed buildings to be in a dilapidated, dangerous condition.
In 2016, 11 such buildings had featured. Of these nine buildings, six had featured on 2016’s pre-monsoon list of dilapidated buildings while there are three new buildings, which are located at Bara Imam Road, KM Sharma in Kalbadevi and Sutar Galli in Andheri area.
“Esplanade Mansion, which was declared dangerous in 2007, could not be vacated as the matter is pending in the high court,” said Sumant Bhange, Chief Officer, MBR&R Board.
Residents had managed to get stay order from the HC from vacating the building. The next hearing is scheduled for June 6.
