From playing a rape survivor in her debut film - Raja ki Aayegi Baraat to learn the correct way of slapping an accused – Mardaani, life has come a full circle for Rani Mukherjee. The Kuch Kuch Hota Hai actress was at the dna office on Friday and spoke her heart out on various issues.
"It was destiny that brought me such roles. The role of Michelle McNally in Black made a major impact in my acting career. My outlook towards life completely changed after that film. I realised that we complain about trivial issues. We should be grateful to what life has to offer us."
Talking about her recent film Mardaani, Rani said, "Playing Shivani Shivaji Roy was a path-breaking role. It feels great when a woman comes up to you and tells you that she too want's to be a Mardaani."
It's not new that women-oriented films have gained popularity. Bollywood has always made such movies in the past. "Bollywood films have always depicted strong women from Mother India, Bandini days, when Nargisji and Nutanji played memorable roles. It was Rekhaji, Srideviji, who also have done the same. Given a chance, I would love to play the roles in Chandni and Lamhe. I would also like to play Amitji's character of Vijay in Deewar and also Chulbul Pandey (Salman Khan) from Dabang," said Rani.
Not forget Rani played a con woman in Bunty aur Babli. So, how would Shivani interrogate Babli? "Babli is a charmer and would charm her way out with Shivani. Shivani would have no option but let her go," she laughed.
Rani is overwhelmed by the success of Mardaani. "After the film released, there have been incidents being reported of a girl slapping an eve-teaser. And immediately I get a call from a TV channels for my inputs," she said.
The Gulam actress believes that girls should take up police as a career and opt for IPS.
