Questions on Sheena Bora-Rahul Mukerjea marriage pops in court

The trial in the Sheena Bora murder took a new twist on Tuesday, with the defence raising questions about her marriage with Rahul Mukerjea. Until now, the case hinged on the premise that Sheena and Rahul were in love and wanted to get married, something her mother Indrani was opposed to.

This came up when Mikhail, a witness in the case, was asked if he was aware that Sheena and Rahul were married.

"I was not aware that Sheena and Rahul got married in Dehradun, neither was I aware of they being engaged," was Mikhail's pointwise response to questions put forth by the defence counsel.

Mikhail said he was also unaware of that fact Sheena got a smaller share in their grandparents' property since she had lost touch with them after apparently getting married.

When the defence asked him if his grandparents were upset with Sheena as they were opposed to her "marriage" with Rahul, Mikhail said, "I don't know."

The questions about Sheena's purported marriage did not surprise Mikhail a bit. He denied of having any knowledge about it nonchalantly.

According to the prosecution, Indrani, her ex-husband Sanjeev Khanna, and her driver Shyamvar Rai had allegedly abducted Sheena killed her and later dumped her body in the jungles of Pen in Raigad district in 2012. Peter was also arrested after some time for allegedly playing a role in the crime. Later, Rai, however, turned into an approver.
