The state information commission has asked the BMC to put up a list of names of officers, who have delayed the clearing of files as per law. A section in the Government Servants Regulation of Transfers and Prevention of Delay in Discharge of Official Duties Act, states that an officer should clear a file in a weeks time.

The order was given on May 5, by state chief information commissioner Ratnakar Gaikwad, on an application by Glojer D'Souza. D' Souza in his application has sought information on the action taken against officers who have sat on files longer than stipulated as per the sections in Government Servants Regulation of Transfers and Prevention of Delay in Discharge of Official Duties Act. His details were on the officers, who were looking after pension files of teachers of aided and unaided schools.

D'Souza's application first met with no reply form the public information officer (PIO). The commission order states that the PIO denied giving information stating that such information was exempt under the RTI Act. Terming the response of the PIO absolutely "irresponsible", the commission stated that such information should be made available and also put up on website.
