The Marine Drive police will be recording the statement of Preity Zinta, actor and co-owner of IPL team Kings XI Punjab, today in connection with a case registered by her against her former boyfriend and industrialist Ness Wadia.

A senior officer said that the actor arrived in the city on Sunday and it had been decided to record her statement on Monday. "The actor has requested us to allow her to give the statement on Tuesday at her residence," he said.

The officer said since Zinta is the complainant in the case, they are not pressuring her for anything. "Once the detailed statement is recorded, we will take her to the Wankhede Stadium where the incident allegedly took place," the officer added.

The police have so far taken down statements of eight people in connection with the case out of which six have corroborated Zinta's version of Wadia misbehaving with her. The actor has also alleged that Wadia had publicly humiliated her in front of others.

The alleged incident took place on May 30 at Garware Pavilion during an IPL match. Zinta had also informed a BCCI official about the incident but was asked to think over it before deciding to take any action.

The actor had approached the police on June 13 and lodged a complaint against Wadia. Acting on the application given by the actor, police had lodged a case under sections 354 (outraging the modesty of a woman), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 509 (word, gesture or act intended to outrage the modesty of a woman) of IPC.

Wadia's statement is yet to be recorded. The police said they would be recording statements of more people in the case. Once Zinta's statement is recorded they would get a clear picture about the incident.
