Maharashtra: Khadse's power to transfer officers taken away

According to the Goverrnment Resolution issued by the revenue department on Thursday, powers of the transfers of the deputy collectors and tehasildars have been delegated to the divisional commissioners and collectors.

In yet another blow to Eknath Khadse, chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Thursday announced a decision of delegating the power of transfer to district collectors and divisional commissioners, which were vested with the former revenue minister. Fadnavis has ensured that even the new revenue minister will not have any say in such transfers.

It is interesting to note that soon after Khadse's resignation over the allegations of scams, the chief minister had stalled transfers of more than 110 revenue officers proposed by Khadse.

According to the Goverrnment Resolution issued by the revenue department on Thursday, powers of the transfers of the deputy collectors and tehasildars have been delegated to the divisional commissioners and collectors.

Besides, the various allegations against Khadse, including a graft case and land deals, there were also complaints of financial interests in the transfers of officials in the revenue department.

After the resignation of Khadse, the GR issued is being seen as another jolt for the former revenue minister and a signal for other ministers.
