Following the Bank of Baroda heist, the Navi Mumbai police have planned safety seminars for banks in the city. During the probe, police found that the Bank of Baroda failed to adhere to adequate safety measures including installation of alarm systems inside the locker section.

The investigation revealed that it took only 10 minutes and three screwdrivers to crack the locker code and access jewellery and valuables worth lakhs of rupees.

“We have shot a video which shows thieves breaking the bank lockers in a span of 10 minutes. The banks should now bring changes in the lock pattern.” asserted Hemant Nagrale, Commissioner of Police, Navi Mumbai police department.

The training will tutor the banks on changing locker design to increase safety.  “We will also be inviting the locker manufacturers to add more safety features and bring change in their engineering pattern which could make lockers theft-proof,” added Nagrale.
