The state information commission has fined a public information officer Rs30,000 for not being able to provide valid reasons in the delay of giving information related to Mhada lottery.

The amount of fine was scattered into four different orders that pertained to lottery results and allotments done by Mhada at different period of times. The orders were given on April 9, 2014 by Ratnakar Gaikwad, state chief information commissioner, while hearing appeals of a Borivli resident, Sharad Yadav.

Yadav, in his four applications, had sought to know the flats allotted to people at different times by Mhada. These included the various categories in which people have been allotted holdings both residential and non-residential. While the PIO was directed to provide THE information, and some of it was given too, it was not provided on time.

Yadav, "The commission may have fined him but the officer has still not provided me with all the information. I will be writing a letter to the commissioner regarding this."
