The parents of children studying in the Indian Education Society's (IES) Padmakar Dhamdhere English Medium Primary School in Dadar have come out on the streets to protest against fee hike.

According to the protesting parents, the fees for Class II students for the forthcoming academic year has been hiked by as much as 80%. The parents also met with the school authorities in this regard, but their pleas fell on deaf ears, said sources.

Reema Lad (name changed), parent of a Class II student, said, "The previous batch used to pay a fee of Rs26,000. Now when our children are going to be in Class II, we are being asked to pay an annual fees of Rs42,500. This is not fair."

Echoing Lad sentiments, Gita Sharma (name changed), parent of another Class II student, said, "We have formed a forum to fight against the injustice by the school. The school is not going to provide any extra facility. Then why should we pay such a huge amount? When we asked the school authorities to justify the fee hike, they claimed that instead of 50 students, now they will keep 40 students in each section of Class II."

None of the officials from the school were available for comments.
