Parents of 250 students studying in Oriental Public School protested outside the premises on Monday after management asked them to get their students admitted to other schools. The Jogeshwari school is changing its board to IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education) from state.

A parent said, "The school is run from Std I to X. How can it suddenly ask us to remove our children? Where will they go, which school will take them?"

"The management has decided to change the board. Parents were informed about this three years back. Teachers too have been asked to leave as they can't teach IGCSE syllabus," said a senior school official.

However, deputy director of school education BD Phadtare too expressed shock and said, "This is wrong. The school can't shut like this suddenly. It must complete education of state board students till Std X. Once the existing students pass out, then the school can change its board. The school may face action if it asks students to leave."
