ACB gave clean chit to BJP leader after allegations of involvement in MIDC corruption case
After claiming to have got got a clean chit from the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) BJP leader Eknath Khadse said that he had politically suffered a lot following his alleged involvement in the MIDC corruption case.
Speaking with DNA Khadse said, “I was forced to pay a heavy political price because of frivolous allegations heaped on me. ACB has shown that the allegations had no kernel of truth. Most of the news stories were planted. The truth is out and it is before the people.”
It was alleged that Khadse himself, his wife and son-in-law were complicit in MIDC’s one-acre land deal in Pune. It was alleged that he facilitated this deal as a minister. He was ultimately asked to resign over conflict of interest.
“The ACB and Income tax department checked my family’s properties thrice in the last two years. However, they did not get any proof of wrongdoing and corruption. We were scrutinized from all sides. We are traditionally farmers and we have huge tracts of land. I am happy today that the last inquiry by ACB has also given me the clean chit to me,” Khadse informed.
When asked whether he will be inducted into the cabinet again after this ACB clean-chit, Khadse said that he is not much bothered about the ministry and power now. “It is the call of the party leadership to take whether I really need to them or not? Nevertheless, I continue to work for the party and has faith in our leadership. We tirelessly and selflessly worked for the party for last 40 years, therefore, today we are in power,” Khadse added.
