The scene outside Galaxy Apartments before Salman Khan arrived was much like any other star's house. People young and old had gathered on the streets, while some clung atop trees. A pregnant woman clicked selfies with an infant in tow while generator vans of various TV channels emitted smells of burning electrical wires. The crowd's favourite movie star was to arrive, and they were sure they wouldn't want to see him anywhere but his house.

Rickshaw driver Rahil Qureshi (27) prides himself in being his biggest fan, and felt that Salman wouldn't go to jail. "As a fan, I don't want him to go, but as an Indian, he should go to jail. People who have money, get away with it.

If it were you or I, we would be completing our sentences now and getting out of jail," he said.

Qureshi also made a point about how the law doesn't change for anyone, saying: "It has taken a long time to prove him guilty and if he does go to jail, we will know that our Indian laws don't bend for anybody."

Sonam Chaddha (29) came all the way from Delhi to catch a glimpse of her hero, and was seen peeping through crevices to get a better view of his apartment. "I don't know much about the law, but in my heart I know that Salman won't go to jail," she said.

Since the road to Bandstand was choc-a-block with fans, policemen and cars, a few waited on the promenade. Lalit Rathod (17) was standing with his friends, and said: "I think he will go to jail. I trust the Indian judiciary and he has been proven guilty."

As courier man Rajendra Lohar and his wife stood on the footpath with their young child, the excitement was visible on their faces. "He is too famous to go to jail. Look at how many people he has helped and how many people's medical bills he has footed. He has a big heart. All of us don't want him to go to jail," he said.
