Police, while interrogating 26-year-old Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) constable Manish Kumar — who was arrested for allegedly filing a fake Income Tax return on behalf of actress Kareena Kapoor-Khan, claim that the accused had attempted to get PAN card details of at least three other actresses. Kumar planned to file fake I-T returns online using the PAN details of the actors in the hope that he would get their contact details from the I-T department's acknowledgment section.

According to Assistant Police Inspector Umesh Gound, the actress, while trying to file her Income Tax (IT) returns a few months ago, found out that her e-filing account was hacked. It was brought to her notice that someone had already filed an I-T return of Rs 8 lakh in her name. Kareena's chartered accountant approached the cyber crime police office at Bandra-Kurla Complex, and lodged a complaint on October 1, 2016. Kumar, who was posted in naxal-affected Chhattisgarh, in well-versed in taxation and hasbeen filing online tax returns for people through a software.
