As the victim was assured, he paid Rs 5 lakhs in advance to the accused.

ACP crime , Nagesh Lohar said," The case was registered with the Badlapur police station. The doctor's father who was in his 60's suffered as both his kidneys had failed. The victim could not find any donor in Mumbai and Thane. Lastly, he hooked up on a Delhi-based website where he had word with Mohammed Hassan Daud Mehfus Hassan Khan alias Kaif Khan (27) and two women named, Neha Dipak kumar Mehra (33) and Karishma Chouhan who is also in her 30s . Of the three, Kaif and Mehra have been arrested while the Chouhan is still on the run."

He added, "The accused lured him over kidney transplant assuring him that he can manage the legalities and will show the doctor blood relation with the donor and other necessary requirements. After receiving the advance, the accused kept postponing the transplant."

Loha added that, to gain the victim's confidence, he asked for the father's blood sample and introduced the victim to a donor. However, the accused later said that the blood samples did not match and he would look for another donor.

"According to the kidney transplant norms, the person in need can receive a kidney from blood relatives or a blood-related member. When the doctor realised the fraud, he lodged a complaint.
