The Opposition parties — Congress, NCP, and other small parties — on Sunday decided to boycott the customary tea party held on the eve of Assembly’s Budgetary Session citing the BJP-led government’s failure to address various issues ranging from farmers suicides to underemployment as the reason.

The Leader of Opposition, Maharashtra Assembly Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil and another Leader of Opposition in Council Dhananjay Munde, NCP spokesperson Nawab Malik jointly read out the statement to boycott the event organised by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday.

While venting their anger towards the ruling party, Vikhe Patil said they had raised the issue of scams related to several ministers and issues related to farmers but not a single issue or demand had been fulfilled. “We have no option but to boycott the tea party and go to court against all these corrupt ministers and get justice. We have documentary proofs of these BJP and Sena ministers’ scams but the CM goes all the way to protect them,” said Patil.
