A 40-year-old driver was arrested by the NRI police on Tuesday for having involvement in stealing music systems from cars of Navi Mumbai.

Jagannath Saroj, a resident from Chembur would come to Navi Mumbai frequently, along with his accomplices at late nights and steal music systems from cars parked on the streets. One four wheeler and seven car music systems have been recovered from Saroj's possession. The police are now searching for his accomplices.

"The accused hails from Uttar Padesh but has been staying in Chembur for last six to seven years. He mainly targeted luxury cars, as systems installed in them are expensive," said Avinash Mane, assistant police inspector from NRI police station.

Acting on a tip-off, the police arrested the accused at Belapur. "The music systems recovered from his possession were stolen from different parts of the city in the past three months. We are now investigating the case to find out whether the recovered four-wheeler is his own, or that too is a stolen possession from Navi Mumbai," said Mane.

"During investigation, the accused has revealed that he would sell the stolen items at Bhendi Bazaar in Mumbai. We suspect a huge gang involved in this crime," said another police officer from NRI police station.
