Fadnavis was on a visit to Halgara village of Nilanga taluka in Latur district to review various works taken under the Jalayukta Shivar Abhiyan, the flagship scheme launched by the state government to tackle water scarcity.
Almost three hours before the helicopter incident, Chief Minister (CM) Devendra Fadnavis had expressed that nothing would happen to him since he had the blessings of the villagers.
Aurangabad District Information Officer Mukund Chilwant said that before having the local delicacy ‘Susheela’ for breakfast in Halgara village, the CM interacted with the villagers. It was only after a 20-25 minutes of laborious work that Fadnavis put in to the Shramdaan programme in the village that he won the hearts of the villagers in his interaction with them.
During his interaction, a local scribe and few villagers pointed out that a branch of the mango tree under which Fadnavis was sitting was about to fall, they cautioned him. Fadnavis said, “Nothing will happen to me since I have blessings of all of you (villagers) here with me.”
After they found out about the chopper incident involving the CM, Chilwant said, the entire village breathed a sigh of relief.

Analysis
There seems to be oversight in allowing Indamer Aviation Pvt Ltd to continue with the contract for maintenance of the helicopter, despite a DGCA report clearly indicting that some of its employees had forged maintenance records.
After an accident or incident involving an aircraft, the pilot automatically gets derostered from services until the completion of investigation. Authorities should have done the same with the MRO company.
