Normal life disrupted as heavy rains lash Maharashtra; flash floods in Konkan region

Maharashtra has been facing non-stop rains over the last few days. Parts of Konkan and Kolhapur are flooded. There has been a major disruption of rail services across the state with many trains running late.

In Mumbai, trains on Central Railway are running very slowly. In Thane and Kalyan, heavy rains have led to flooded tracks and trains are delayed.

Due to heavy rains, rivers are overflowing. In Kolhapur, the Panchganga river is flowing close to the danger mark. At Shingnapur Naka the water level has crossed the bridge, and a jeep was washed away.

In Chanderai, Chiplun and Khed regions of Konkan, overnight heavy rains have led to rivers flooding. It is feared that the floods may spread into towns and cities nearby.  Local administration is keeping a watch on the situation. The jagabudi river in Khed is in full spate, and water has entered the market area. Thirty villages have been cut off due to heavy rains. Vasishti river is flowing above the danger mark.

Raigad, too, has been lashed by heavy rains. In Mahad non-stop rains have led to the municipal corporation issuing an alert about very heavy rainfall over the next 72 hours. Heavy rains over the last two days have disrupted everyday life. The rivers Savitri, Gandhari and Kal are in danger of breaching the banks on both sides. In Walan and Birwadi too the situation is the same.

In the town of Roha, it has been raining non-stop since Wednesday, which has had an adverse impact on daily life. The Kundalika river too is in danger of breaching its banks.
