Non-bailable warrant against 2 accused: Juhu rave party

Forty-eight people, including television actors, models, a fashion designer and a cricketer, were issued copies of the charge sheet filed against them in last year’s Juhu sundown party case.

The court also issued a non-bailable warrant against Suraj Bhalla and Meghna Nayar, who failed to appear before the court despite receiving summons from the police.

On May 20, 2012, in a raid at the Oakwood Premier Hotel in Juhu, the police arrested 86 persons who were allegedly consuming contraband substances. The police said they had seized 110gm cocaine and 64gm cannabis from the hotel.

Among those present in the special Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances  Act court on Monday were Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket player Rahul Sharma, television actors Apoorva and Shilpa Agnihotri, designer Rocky S and models Binal Trivedi and Angad Singh Bedi.

Brothers Dipesh and Rakesh Sharma, both DJs, and Vishey Handa, the owner of Oakwood Premier Hotel in Juhu where party was held, were also present in the court presided by judge IM Bohari.

All the 48 are accused of consuming narcotics during the party on May 20, 2012.

The accused were provided copies of the charge sheet and were asked to be present before the court on June 10.

Accused Gaurav Bajaj, who had been declared absconding, surrendered before the court. The court granted him bail on a cash surety of Rs10,000.
