Nitesh Rane's supporters vandalise tourist buses in Borivli, 5 arrested

Five people, supposedly associated with Swabhiman Sanghatana an organisation-led by Maharashtra’s minister Narayan Rane’s son Nitesh Rane were arrested by the MHB colony police for vandalising Goa bound tourist buses in Ganpat Patil Nagar in Borivli (W) on Tuesday night. The supporters were protesting against Rane’s arrest by the Goa police.

The incident happened around 10:45pm inside Matre Compound in Borivli. There were about 40 buses parked. Suresh Kilje, senior PI said, “There were about 40 Goa bound buses of Neeta Travels parked.”

According to the police, around 12 supporters of Rane entered the compound with hockey sticks and started raising slogans against the Goa government. “The group threatened the drivers. They pelted stones and smashed the windows of about five buses. However, no one was injured,” added Kilje.

The drivers alerted the police and arrested – Vaibhav Gangan,19, Deepak Rajpasare, 19, Sameer Deshpande, 26, Vijay Londhe, 28 and Sagar Pandit, 32, who heads Rane’s organisation in the area. The accused were held for rioting, unlawful assembly, mischief and criminal intimidation under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. The police is on a manhunt for the remaining culprits.

Meanwhile, the Juhu police registered a case against four unidentified persons after they damaged a property at Goa Bhavan in Juhu on Tuesday night. The suspect damaged two lights and the board. “We have registered a case against four people of relevant section of the Indian Penal Code and are investigating the case” said a police officer of the Juhu police station.
