NGO raises over Rs 3 crore for rural hospital in Gujarat

With an aim to raise funds for a hospital in Gujarat's rural village, the volunteers of Shrimad Rajchandra Love and Care, participated in the Mumbai Marathon. A major highlight of their fund raising activity was videos of children requesting to contribute in kind. The videos were widely circulated on WhatsApp and other social media platforms.

The team managed to raise over Rs 3 crore funds for the hospital they plan to build. According to the volunteers, it is their seventh consecutive year at the Mumbai Marathon. The aim is to provide superior and advanced medical facilities and healthcare to the tribal population.

Speaking about the fund raising activity, Miloni Sanghavi a volunteer said, "It is a great platform for fund raising. We are able to reach out to the public at large. Many corporate firms participated with us. This is our seventh year, for the past six years many people have supported us. So we are here to thank them to believe in our transparency. This also helps us to create awareness about various social causes."

The funds raised through SCMM 2017 will support the construction of Shrimad Rajchandra Hospital — a new 200-bed multi-speciality charity hospital for the less privileged in South Gujarat.
Over 1000 volunteers from the NGO and over 150 fundraisers participated to support the cause and collect funds towards the construction of the Shrimad Rajchandra Hospital for the tribal population in Southern Gujarat.

Alpa Gandhi, member of the NGO, said, "While 21 corporates supported this cause, youngsters helped actively to raise funds over Rs one crore. They also interacted and inspired citizens."
