New ethics panel formed for code of conduct in legislature

The state legislative assembly on Monday approved of a new 19 member ethics committee which will look to have a code of conduct for legislatures in place. This will be the fourth committee after those formed in the 10th to 12th Vidhan Sabha could not complete the scope of work and the details code of conduct to be followed.

Informing about it, parliamentary affairs minister Ranjit Patil stated that the committee is being formed and added that the new one had to be formed because the earlier ones could not complete the scope of work and code of conduct.

Speaker of the House Haribhau Bagde said that a committee existed earlier but since its work was not complete by the end of the 12 Vidhan Sabha, a new one is being constituted during the 13th Vidhan Sabha. He added that it will decide how the legislatures are to conduct themselves and will detail their stature in the public.
