After two months of follow-up by residents, the traffic department has installed a temporary divider to decongest traffic in Nepean Sea Road.
The Nepean Sea Road Citizens Forum (NSRCF) had earlier requested the authority to install a median strip which can solve the area's traffic issues, by separating the opposing lanes of traffic.
BMC and Mumbai Traffic Police, after hearing the citizen forum's matter a few weeks ago, have installed a temporary median strip of 100 meters till the monsoon gets over, following which a permanent divider will be installed.
Mukul Mehra, secretary, NSRCF, said, "Within a few days of the installation, there have been fewer traffic congestion issues. BMC D ward's traffic department is ready to give an NOC for the median strip." He added, "This stretch was dangerous for pedestrians to cross and shoppers parked their vehicles haphazardly. After the installation of these dividers, residents of Nepean Sea Road can now use this stretch safely."
