The residents of Thane, Mumbra, Kalwa, Diva, Dombivili, Kalyan, Badlapur and adjacent areas are experiencing frequent power cuts almost everyday.

Nationalist Congress Party MLA Jitendra Awhad has already written to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, highlighting the problem of these arbitrary power cuts and asking him to ensure that the power failures stop by the next 15 days. If the problem is not solved within the stipulated time, the NCP MLA has threatened to violently protest against the incumbent BJP and Sena government.

Asha Kabliye, a resident of Umbarde road in Kalyan West, said, "We have to go to the office the next day, but suddenly the electricity goes away around 5.30-6 am. And as the schools have re-opened now after a long summer vacation, our children need good sleep. But these power cuts affect us and leave us tired the whole day."

"Such power cuts were a thing of the past when the Congress was in power," the letter said, adding, "But when Shiv Sena and BJP came to power in 1995 in the state, Maharashtra became self-sufficient in power. But we are again moving to the era of load shedding."
