Nashik district collector moved to Mumbai

District collector of Nashik Vilas Patil has been transferred to Mumbai as managing director, Maharashtra Stage, Film and Cultural Development Corporation, Ltd. District collector of Sangali Jitendra Singh Khushwa has been transferred to Nashik to fill his place.

The transfer of Patil comes in the run-up to the Kumbhmela. The district collector of Nashik is the authority for organising the Kumbhmela and as such Patil was involved in the planning and execution of the affairs of the mega event which is due in August. The decision to transfer him is being questioned as the works for the event have already started.

It is being said that Patil had himself demanded his transfer on an earlier occasion. It is understood that the higher authority, however, had quelled his request given the fact that Patil has been involved in the matters of the mega event right from its planning stage.

"I had requested for my transfer much earlier," he said while speaking to the media. The reason for that he said was "personal".
