Nalasopara dancers wow the world

The Indian Hip Hop Dance Championship, created by Anjan Sivakumar, is an all- India dance competition which was introduced to the country in 2012 under the banner of Anjan Events and production.

Kings United India, a dance group from Nalasopara, made the country proud by standing third in the World Hip Hop Dance Championship, 2015 held recently at San Diego, California, USA.

The feat is a remarkable one as it comes amidst stiff competition from dance groups of 85 nations, with Kings United India mesmerising everybody with their unique fusion of Indian essence and folklore with elements of hip-hop. The crew Bradas from New Zealand and Romancon from Philippines bagged the Gold and Silver medals respectively.

Earlier, Kings United India team won the gold medal in the Indian Hip Hop Dance Championship that took place in Inorbit Mall, Malad from May 27 to 30. This is the official qualifier to the world Hip Hop Dance Championship, USA. The Indian leg of the championship was in association with dna.

The Indian Hip Hop Dance Championship, created by Anjan Sivakumar, is an all- India dance competition which was introduced to the country in 2012 under the banner of Anjan Events and production.

Sivakumar, the director, says: "This is really a proud moment for India to be placed on top among the world. Since 2012, India has been dreaming of earning a medal at the world championship. Our teams have even come close to being in the finals but couldn't make it to the top. This year, all our hard work has paid off. I believe we have a set an example to all aspiring dancers in India to do what they love and to achieve what seems impossible."
